Laws and Ethics

What is Privacy Law?
Privacy law is a regulation that protects a persons right to be left alone.

People are allowed to lead their lives without public scrutiny. 

The right to privacy.

The right to be left alone' - 'Harassment and data protection'.

Example;
In the Sun Newspaper, the journalist hinted that Cameron had an affair with her close friend Shane Nickerson, when they were in a relationship at the time. This scandle damaged their relationship,. so she sued for defamation. (The amount of money she applied for is not recognized.


What is Copyright and Intellectual Property Law?
Intellectual property is something that is unique to a person if physically created. i.e. an idea a not your intellectual property by the words you write are.

Copyright is a type of intellectual law that protects your work. Etc.

By knowing your rights and having the right type of protection you can stop people stealing or copying

  1. the names of your products or brands.
  2. your inventions.
  3. the design or look of your products.
  4. things you write, make or produce.
Example;


What is Libel Law?
To publish in print something which is not true or may harm that person reputation and may bring hate or scorn towards them.

It must be a statement which claims to be fact and is not clearly identified as an opinion

What is Product Placement?
Product Placement is a promoting techniques used to promote many products on mass-media industries, for example; TV, Film. Ect.

What is allowed on UK TV?


Where can't products be placed?
Product placements like Tobacco and Alcohol can't be shown on children's TV, for example because it can influence them to do them, which is bad and inappropriate for their age range.

What products can't be placed?
Like I have said previously products that influence people in appropriate way, for example; Drugs.

How would you know if a program contains product placement?

What are Media Ethic?
Media ethics deal with specific ethical principles and standards of media and these can be, for example; Film, theater, the arts, print media, and The Internet. Also, they also cover controversial topics, varying from war journalism and Benetton advertising.

Explaining what the scandal was about and what the consequences were for Russell Brands and Jonathan Ross's prank call to Andrew Sachs.

PRIVACY - I have chosen Privacy because they might not wanted to publicly it, or furthermore, one of them, for example; James Franco he could have sent the messages in hope of a relationship, but the girl told her friends, which then lead to her sending them around.
